Change...
is good! I am now officially a Tennessee artist, having left my Ohio home and roots behind to start fresh here in the mountains I have loved since childhood! I expect to be very productive in the coming months, with all this beautiful inspiration surrounding me.

I start my art endeavors here by teaching a class at the famed Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts in Gatlinburg. It's a class (appropriately so) about alternative paths to successful landscapes. I'll be making use of my collage technique as we explore inventive ways of depicting the land around us. For more information click here

In honor of this change, I've made a few more...

My blog's appearance has changed. I love the theme, but not sure about the appearance. Please let me hear from you...post a comment to let me know if you like or have suggestions.

I now have a facebook artist's page. Most of my blog content will be shared there. Please "LIKE" my page by clicking HERE and then hitting the like button!

Arrowmont Class coming in January!

I am extremely excited to announce that I was asked to design a six week intensive workshop for the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN! I couldn't hope for a more exciting place to continue my teaching career in a state I'll be calling home starting this January!

Situated on some of the most beautiful acreage bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this historic teaching institute has been a steadfast jewel of the community since 1945. Arrowmont is a renowned arts education center, who's history began 100 years ago as the first settlement school in the region. Today it is a thriving arts community where contemporary art meets traditional fine crafts.

Inside the numerous buildings are expansive workspaces for a variety of fine crafts such as wood-turning and glass blowing, as well as contemporary fine arts. It is a veritable playground for the enthusiastic learner. The main building's exhibit space is exquisite, bringing the outdoors in, with natural stone and wood from the surrounding landscape. It's no wonder I love it!

Return to the Wetlands, 2011

Exploring Alternatives in Landscape, Arrowmont January 15-Feb 21, Tues/Thurs 6-9 p.m.
My workshop centers around my love of the land in all its many forms. Participants will delve into inventive ways of both seeing and depicting the environment around us. Through experimentation with the versatile medium of acrylic paint, and the process of collage, individuals will capture their own experience of earth.

See Arrowmont for yourself!
